Additional Information

Australian compliance. The STP8.0-3AV-40 is listed on the Clean Energy Council Approved Inverters list against AS/NZS 4777.2:2020, certificate EESS-220404-2, approved 4 July 2024 with the listing current to 4 July 2027. It survived the August 2025 cull of models whose manufacturers did not lodge a declaration against Amendment 2:2024.

A firmware update will be required. SMA specifies a minimum firmware version for AS/NZS 4777.2:2020 operation, and that firmware post dates this unit's May 2021 build. Assume the installer must update the firmware before the Australian grid code data sets become available. This is a routine step performed with an SD card or the SMA installer app.

Country data set. SMA ships these inverters with no country data set applied, and feed in operation is blocked until one is selected. The installer chooses Australia Region A, B or C at commissioning according to the local network operator. After ten hours of feed in operation the grid parameters lock and further changes require the installer's own SMA Grid Guard code.

Grid Guard: OTS300 on the carton is an SMA factory option code recorded in the configuration block. It is not a country setting and it is not an installer Grid Guard code, and it does not restrict the inverter to Europe.

Documentation. The printed documentation supplied is the European language set. English manuals for this model are published on the SMA website.

Warranty. The SMA factory warranty runs from date of purchase. This unit was produced for the European channel, and whether SMA Australia will provide warranty support on stock that did not come through the Australian channel is not confirmed. Please do not assume Australian warranty service.

Installation must be carried out by a licensed electrical worker and an accredited solar installer in accordance with AS/NZS 5033 and AS/NZS 3000.
