MK4n swerve modules are mirrored on a drivetrain—there are two kit layouts: “A” and “B”. Please verify the correct encoder configuration before ordering.

Overview

The MK4n leverages the proven MK4i architecture in a narrower form factor—only 4" wide on the narrow side inside the frame—enabling:

• Wider intakes between modules

• Compact drivetrains (fits a flat-mounted FRC battery in a 17.5" wide frame)

Enhancements vs MK4i

• Supports 0.25" magnet encoders and 0.5" hex encoders (hex uses the SDS Center Column)

• 16T drive & steering pinions for faster speeds

• 10-32 threaded holes on the motor plate for optional covers

Features

• On-axis steering encoder interface (encoder not included); zero backlash; disassemble/reassemble without re-zeroing

• All plates: 7075-T6 aluminum; all gears: steel

• Secondary plate to box-in frame; 10-32 mounting holes for subsystems

• Encoder guard (e.g., CANcoder)

• Same frame-to-floor height as MK4/MK4i

• Same L1+, L2, L3+ drive ratios as MK4i (with 16T Pinion Adapter)

• No 3D-printed parts

• Billet Wheel option ships with tread pre-cut, drilled, and installed

• Includes all hardware (including robot mounting hardware)

Motor & Encoder Notes

• Compatible drive/steering motors: REV NEO, REV NEO Vortex, VEX Falcon 500, WCP Kraken X60

• Steering encoders supported:

  • 0.25" magnet: CTRE CANcoder, Thrifty Absolute, Redux HELIUM Canandcoder (magnet not included)

  • 0.5" hex: REV Through Bore Encoder (or equivalent)

• CIM motors are not compatible (diameter too large)

Ratios

• Steering gear ratio: 18.75:1

• Drive gear ratios: L1+, L2, L3+ (see product images for free speed tables)

Mounting

Directly mounts to common 2" x 1" aluminum tubing with pre-drilled 10-32 clearance holes.

• MK4n with Kraken X60 motors: 6.5 lb ≈ 2.95 kg

• MK4n with NEO motors: 6.0 lb ≈ 2.72 kg
  (Includes encoder interface, lower mounting plate, and hardware.)
