The Newmar LVD 48-30 is a 48 volt, 30 amp low voltage disconnect from Newmar Powering the Network in California. It protects a 48 volt battery bank from over discharge damage, which is the usual requirement at telecom and network sites running battery backed DC plant. The unit wires in series in the load leg between the battery and the load, with a separate sense wire to the battery terminal so it measures true terminal voltage rather than voltage depressed by load current.
When the bank falls to the disconnect setpoint the internal contactor opens and sheds the load, stopping the discharge before the cells are permanently damaged. It stays open, drawing only its small standby current, until a charge source lifts the bank to the higher reconnect setpoint, then closes automatically. The hysteresis between the two setpoints prevents the contactor cycling as the bank sags and recovers. Both setpoints are adjustable through the cover.

Additional Information
This is a positive ground unit. The switched leg and the sense polarity are inverted relative to Newmar's 12 V and 24 V models, so the sense wire runs from battery positive to the LVD positive sense terminal. It is not interchangeable with the negative ground models in wiring topology. Please confirm your system is positive ground before ordering.
A low voltage disconnect is battery protection, not load protection. It responds to voltage, not to overcurrent, so it is not a circuit breaker and does not replace one. Fusing or breaker protection is still required.
Newmar does not assign an IP or NEMA rating to the LVD series, so this should be treated as an indoor or protected enclosure product. There are no status LEDs and no alarm or dry contact outputs on this model.
The LVD 48-30 remains a current Newmar product, though Australian distribution is thin and most stock in this market is imported from the United States.
Installation must be carried out by a suitably qualified person.
The item is new in the manufacturer's original packaging.
