MEANWELL AD-55A 55W 13.8V Security Power Supply Battery Charger UPS (NEW In Box)

The Mean Well AD-55A is a 55 W enclosed security power supply with an integral battery charger and automatic changeover on mains failure. It provides a 13.8 V main output for the load and a separate 13.4 V charging output for a sealed lead acid standby battery. If the mains supply is lost the battery takes over automatically, which makes it the standard building block for alarm panels, access control and small CCTV installations that must keep running through an outage.

Total rated power is 51.38 W across both channels. The main output is adjustable from 12 to 14.5 V. A battery low cut off between 9.5 and 11 V protects the battery from deep discharge. Protection covers overload with hiccup mode auto recovery, over voltage and short circuit. The unit is fanless with free air convection cooling and carries UL 62368-1, TUV EN 62368-1, CB, CE and the Australian RCM mark.

Please read this before ordering. No battery is supplied. The backup function requires a user supplied 12 V sealed lead acid battery connected to the B plus and B minus terminals.

The charging output is 0.23 A at 13.4 V. That is a trickle and float charge for a small standby battery such as a 7 Ah alarm panel battery. It is not a fast charger and recharging a flat battery takes a long time.

The total budget is 51.38 W across both channels. The 3.5 A main output figure is not additional to the charger draw.

Efficiency is 71 percent, which is low by current standards. The unit runs warm and needs ventilation.

This is the AD-55A, which is the 13.8 V version. The AD-55B is 27.6 V and is a different unit. Please check before ordering.

This is a bare enclosed industrial component with exposed 240 V AC barrier terminals. It must be installed inside a suitable enclosure by a competent person in accordance with AS/NZS 3000.
